RenoNV Guide comments:
The Atlantis is one of Reno's "big" casinos - lots of rooms, lots of restaurants, lots of gambling. It's not directly downtown - but south of downtown on Virginia St., close to the Peppermill. They have the "tropical" casino theme going and while the gambling seems good there, we only gave them a rating of "8" because of the seafood in the skyway. Let me explain... There is a big walkway over Virginia St. joining their parking lot to the casino. However, and unfortunately - they put an oyster/seafood bar in the walkway over the street and the final effect is that while riding up the escalator, you're overwhelmed with the smell of fish on your way in the casino. Wierd choice. They also lose points because they built these cool huge torches (which if you look closely at the photo, there are fake flames added), but never light them anymore. The rumor we heard was because they built the things and then found out the cost of the fuel to actually run them. Duh. One fun thing about the Atlantis is that they are in a perpetual "arms race" with the Peppermill - one builds another hotel tower, so the other does too. One builds fountains, so the other one does too. It's fun to watch the fight.
Overall high rating - 8/10 - but a point or two off for the smell of fish and the unlit torches. Tip: park in the parking lot behind the casino to avoid the fish bar.
